Facts about passports

Australian passports are issued only to Australian citizens

Adult passports are valid for 10 years

A Senior's Passport, valid for five years, is available to Australian citizens aged 75 years and over for half the cost of a standard passport.

Children's passports are valid for five years

Application forms are available from most Australia Post outlets.

Apply early for your passport. The Australian Passport Office aims to post out your passport within 10 working days if all requirements have been met, however, in busy periods it may take longer. When you lodge your application form, check for any variation to the standard turnaround time and don't forget to allow for postage time.
